80 Day Race Co-founder and General Director Frank Manders has performed on stage during TEDxAmsterdam. After competing against 90 nominees, Manders was one of the five TEDxAmsterdam Award finalists. He received the opportunity to showcase the 80 Day Race event to a global audience last Friday November 18 at the Stadsschouwburg Theater in Amsterdam. The performance during the invite-only event was broadcast live online.
TEDxAmsterdam brought together entrepreneurs, scientists, thinkers and artists to share their ideas on this year’s theme ‘new power’. Where TEDxAmsterdam is about ‘ideas worth sharing’, the TEDxAmsterdam Award is all about ‘ideas worth doing’. And this concept fits 80 Day Race perfectly as it is preparing a race around the world for vehicles without combustion engines.
So far 80 Day Race has built a dedicated team – including three-time Dakar Rally winner and race director Hubert Auriol – secured the support of the city of Paris that will host the start and finish event, over two dozen teams have expressed their interest to participate in the race and earned the endorsement of influencers from various fields. Among the ambassadors who have pledged their support are Tom Touber, former COO and winner of the Volvo Ocean Race, Pierre Fillon, President of Automobile Club de l’Ouest, and Erik Lindbergh, electric aviation pioneer. Have a look at all ambassadors here.
National Geographic Channel
80 Day Race is also pleased to announce that National Geographic Channel is to broadcast a documentary TV series globally. Six teams will be followed in making their preparations to enter the race. The selection process of these teams is currently ongoing, to be considered as one of these six teams please contact us.
National Geographic is a society born out of the idea of exploration and care for the planet. The channel is a contemporary extension of the National Geographic Society: one of the world’s most trusted brands.
